Connecticut Fundraising Registration Requirements

Connecticut law requires that charitable organizations and institutions that solicit contributions in or from this state register with the Department of Consumer Protection. The Connecticut law governing charity registration is found in Summary of Charitable Funds Solicitation Act; C.G.S Sec. 21A-175.

To register in Connecticut:

Complete the Initial Registration Statement and mail to:

      Department of Consumer Protection
      Attn: Public Charities Unit
      450 Columbus Blvd., Suite 801
      Hartford, CT 06103

Initial Filing Fee: $50

Requirements: Governing Documents, IRS Form 990 and Financial Statement

Annual Renewal: Yes

Annual Renewal Fee: $50

Extension Available: No

Does charitable registration require Corporate Registration: No

Does charitable registration require a Registered Agent: No

Connecticut offers Educational, Hospital and Religious Exemptions.
