Maine Fundraising Registration Requirements

Maine law requires that charitable organizations and institutions that solicit contributions in or from this state register with the Charitable Solicitation Registrar. The Maine law governing charity registration is found in M.R.S. Title 13-B; 9 MRSA, Ch. 385, Sec. 5001.

To register in Maine:

Complete the Initial Registration Statement and mail to:

Initial Filing Fee: $50

Requirements: Governing Documents, IRS Form 990 and Financial Statement

Annual Renewal: Yes

Annual Renewal Fee: $25

Extension Available: No

Does charitable registration require Corporate Registration: No

Does charitable registration require a Registered Agent: No

Maine offers Educational, Hospital and Religious Exemptions.
